James Clark Technologies to deliver the commercial HERU by 2020

UK greentech innovation, HERU, which uses resources such as uneaten food, single use plastics, nappies and coffee cups as fuel to heat water within commercial and domestic properties, has taken a major step to market with its first licence agreement.

James Clark Technologies (JCT)  will manufacture and sell the commercial HERU by Quarter 3 2020.  Led by Tristan Carmichael, JCT possesses substantial experience within the heating and electronic controls industry.  Tristan is an expert in product development, having obtained a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London and working as both an International Product Manager and Project Leader at BOSCH Thermotechnik GmbH for over 10 years.

Upon being the first to manufacture the new technology, Tristan commented:

“The HERU is a truly remarkable innovation. Our customers will be able to power their HERU at a comparable cost with their existing waste collection service. Not only do they benefit from the heat and hot water generated by their own resource collection and processing, but also reduced CO2 emissions.  To be working in partnership with such an amazing innovation, bringing it to market is a real privilege.”

Creator of the HERU, Nik Spencer, is thrilled to be working with JCT and added:

“We are absolutely delighted to be working alongside James Clark Technologies to deliver HERU in 2020 as planned. Tristan has extensive experience within the engineering industry and his expertise and knowledge will be invaluable during the commercial development and delivery phases of HERU.”

The partnership between HERU and JCT follows a recent successful technical trial at Wychavon District Council,  where HERU is using the resources generated in the Council cafe to heat water. The technical evaluation has successfully delivered its desired outcomes and the team at HERU will soon be rolling out its second and third technical evaluation units.
