HERU Joins the Wychavon District Council Team
The HERU was installed at Wychavon District Council’s Civic Centre in March 2019 and has earned its place as a valued member of the team. The trials are a massive and essential step towards the HERU becoming an appliance for homes and businesses. The usability and reliability can only really be established in a “real” life situation and workplace.
The 19L Evaluation HERU was used on a daily basis as part of the Civic Centre Café infrastructure. In the first six months at Wychavon District Council, the HERU, operating 5 days a week, every week, processed 3-4 kilograms of resource per day, equating to 420 kilos of diverted resource from entering the “waste” system.
“It’s amazing and so easy to use, you just put the rubbish in, put the lid down and turn it on and that’s it until the next day”
Jo, Manager of Café Wychavon District Council
Through daily use the HERU Team has been able to further develop the unit, taking the learning and feedback from the users and applying this accordingly.
The list of learning goes on…
but what we are most pleased with is that HERU will process all those resources once discarded as “waste” and turn them into energy for the home, as easily as once loading your bin.
Jo and her team at Wychavon have not had to clean the HERU once during the trial and have generated gallons of hot water whilst significantly reducing CO2 emissions created by the “waste” management system.
