Future developments

HERU is the first implementation, not the whole idea.

The broader philosophy is rethinking resource management at the point of generation. HERU is the first practical expression of it. The roadmap follows from that, rather than from a product catalogue.

The sequence, and why it runs this way

  1. HERU 125 — commercial

    The first unit to market, aimed at commercial premises already operating 1100-litre containers.

  2. HERU 35 — the smallest unit

    To picture the scale, a typical household sits within what a HERU 35 is built to handle — which is why it is also the unit that makes residential deployment possible later.

    That is a guide, not a rule. A large house with high occupancy generates more than a small one and would need a larger unit, in exactly the way a busy surgery with several practitioners needs more than a single-room practice. Sizing follows the authorised material a building actually generates and the hot water it needs — never the sector or the building type on its own.

  3. HERU 250 — larger commercial

    For larger premises and organisations running multiple containers.

  4. Residential

    All three units can in time be made available for domestic settings. Commercial deployment comes first because building at commercial volumes provides the economy of scale that drives unit cost down to the point where residential makes sense.

Beyond buildings

Marine applications

The same principle — retaining value from authorised materials at the point they are generated — is not limited to buildings.

HERU is being evaluated for future marine applications, reducing onboard storage and handling while recovering useful heat.

Development work is focused on vessel integration, emissions validation, wastewater integration and the certification pathway for deployment at sea.

The thesis is not the machine. It is that buildings should retain what they generate.
